The children of Maghera Primary School were treated to a super educational programme. Daniel and Martin Moloney, our educators for the day, had lots of interesting things to tell us and show us.
We had lots of discussions and information on our native raptors and how we monitor them and look after them. The kids learnt about some of the projects involving buzzards, kites, eagles and falcons. We also learnt of some of the threats which face these lovely animals, such as loss of habitats and poisoning.
Daniel and Martin also brought a few friends to come and play. We got to meet Leo the long-eared owl, Barney the barn owl and a peregrine falcon.
Some very fortunate and clever people were allowed to get a little bit closer to our new friends by answering questions about the animals.
Everyone had a great time from the Busy Bees right up to the older folk in P7.
