P6 News: Our measuring investigation
Is your arm span length the same as your height?
P6 were using metre sticks to measure some people from our class and some teachers. You can find out if your arm span was different or the same as your height through measuring.
We asked Mr Dillon, Mrs Brown, Miss Johnston, Mrs Wiener, Miss Henry and Mrs Reid. Mr Dillon’s arm span and height had a difference of +3cm. Miss Johnston had the biggest difference of +7cm. Miss Henry had a difference of +2cm. Mrs Reid had a difference of +0cm because her height and arm span are the same. Mrs Wiener had a difference of +2cm. Mrs Brown had a difference of +5cm.
Chelsy had a difference of +3cm, Tom had a difference of +6cm, Gethin had a difference of +0cm, Adam had a difference of +1cm, James had a difference of +1cm, Charlotte had a difference of +15cm, Keri had a difference of 0cm, Peter had a difference of +3cm, Rebecca had a difference of -3cm , Alec had a difference of +5cm and Jack had a difference of +5cm.
We worked in groups to measure the different spans and heights. It was really interesting to find out if people had a difference or if their span was the same as their height.
When we measured the teachers it was good fun telling them where to stand and how we wanted to measure them.
Chelsy said that she thought that it was really fun and enjoyable .
Gethin said that it was fun and interesting .
Charlotte said that it was interesting to find out peoples height and arm span.
Alec said that he really enjoyed doing it.
