P6 News:- Sorting out our school rules
On Thursday 21st KS2 went to our school hall to think about our school and lunchtime rules. All the classes lined up in rows and and Mr Dillon put us in groups of five we were mixed with all KS2 classes. We took turns to write the rules . Mr Dillon put the old rules on the white board and we tried to make them more child friendly.
We thought of group names like pepperoni pizza, DX, fashion police, rusty rules, the rulers, the flying penguins and space unicorns we spent about a hour and a half working in our groups thinking of school and lunchtime rules. Some of the rules were work hard play hard, eat your lunch like you’re eating it with the queen and don’t play the blame game, don’t tell porkies, don’t make excuses, respect staff, bring homework, eat politely and get to school on time
We took turns saying six of our rules to P5,6 and 7. Everyone took turns to speak to the rest of the hall. As people told us their rules we had to tick them off if we had thought of the same ones. We both felt confident when speaking to the rest of the classes. After each group finished we gave them a round of applause to celebrate their ideas.
The hall got really really warm. Must have been all that hard work we were doing! To cool us off and stretch our legs Mr Dillon took us outside to do a large snake around the playground. It woke everyone up and cleared our heads.
We really enjoyed that we made up our own rules instead of the teachers just telling us rules to follow.
