P5 and 6 went outside on a very sunny day. We got into groups of 3 or 4 and Miss Rowney gave us a position to start at. We needed a piece of paper, a pencil and a trundle wheel. Miss Rowney counted down from 3 and then we started. We measured the perimeter of the pitch. We measured it in metres. Our estimates ranged from 150 to 300m.
Everyone in the class got a turn so we ended up with 23 measurements. Our highest measurement was 170m and our lowest was 125m. The median and mode were both 153m. When we worked out the average it was also 153m. The range was 45m.
Some people were slower and some were fast. We think the people who did it slower were probably more accurate.
